Strawbales and Sun

I am going to take a small break
from my "finding the house, and fixing it up" story
... to tell you that TODAY we had a break from the rain!

So I walked down the hill into Alton, proper, this morning
to pay Mills Feed Store an important visit.

I had been anxious and excited about this quest for several days.

I wanted straw ... lots of it.

And they have it ... lots of it!

I purchased twenty bales of straw ...
thankful they will deliver to me for no extra charge!

Mr. Mills delivered the bales himself ... he is a very nice man,
and he stacked the bales neatly right where I wanted them
without me even having to show him where.

Mr. Mills sure did make "lifting those things" look easy ...
I thought I'd be able to, but I couldn't do it.

I had to call my assistant for help.

She's got her favorite tool, a tape measure, handy ...
and she is ready to go!

We have lots of work ahead of us ... hubba-hubba, chop-chop!

To be continued ...

  1. Your assistant is soooo cute! Almost makes me jealous... almost, I have to admit that I do enjoy being an empty nester. :)

So, what's all the straw for? I just installed 4 bales of the stuff in my garden a few weeks back, I normally cut it myself from the vast amounts of free grass growing on my property, but this season I decided I could afford to pay for the bales ($11.00 per bale, ouch!). I assume your bales have something to do with gardening? or not?

  2. Hello Wretha! I adore my little assistant!

I am having a crazy, terrible time re-acclimating to the computer. I have been without it for sooo long, that it is difficult for me to get back into my rhythm.

Yes ma'am, we will be sharing our adventure with strawbale gardening ... we are excited :)
