Wall of Books

So this same local B&B
that did the copper penny backsplash
... which, by the way, I found out took 2700 pennies ...
also got creative with old books.

2700 pennies is only $27 ... right?

I am friends with these guys on Facebook,
and follow their recycling/renovation projects.

This project used to be an old dance hall.

The wall is covered was 30 feet long, and 10 feet high.
It took 350 book covers .

Interesting project, but not for me ... I don't think.

Too busy looking ... but maybe it's all the stuff.

I'd stick with soft browns and creams if I were to do it,
and have very minimal decorations and furniture.

I think the busyness takes away from the art of the wall.

But, that's just me.

I am more of a minimalist ... I don't do "clutter" very well,
and don't need a lot of "stuff."

I do LOVE the cubby-hole bookshelf though ...
love, Love, LOVE IT.

I can sooo see my collection of special rocks,
and Nani's retired boots
in there.

You can see the penny backsplash in this photo.

Love y'all.

  1. Ok, Brooke. Love ya'll back. Will follow you. You're a sweetie.

I'm doing the bookcovers in the earthbag dome (someday), but maybe not on a wall. I was thinking of some racy titles on a headboard. (Heart pounds a little bit.) I saw a similar wall project somewhere else and it stuck in my head, but I can't remember where I saw it.

  2. Racy book titles on a headboard ... made me giggle n' grin ... you'll have to post pics when you do it ... heeheehee.

Goodness, I love to play on words ... but, seriously, Ginger that is a brilliantly creative idea :)

I started working on my "new blog" last night ... I am excited to make the switch.

  3. I can't see killing all those books. What about the insides? The floor is gorgeous, though. What is it made of?

You'll have to share the racy book headboard when you do it, Ginger. At least it wouldn't destroy so many books.

  4. Excellent point about the content of the book, Rose.

I am a book lover, too, and have an impressive personal library of old hardbacks ... I suppose the "insides" would still be "bound" fairly well, and you could stamp the title on the exposed spine.

Personalized coloring of your stamp paint would pull your color scheme together real well, and the thought of all the many variations of creams and whites lined in rows on a shelf ... make me drool.

As for the floor ... I don't know ... let me look through her renovation photo album and see if she even discusses it ... I know the place used to be an old dance hall ... many of the elder women here remember taking ballet and tap on the old wooden floors inside.

I am really intrigued with this lady's projects in town ... she buys old properties and transforms them with garage sales, and flea market, finds ... and then turns them into lodging for guests (with a completely stocked kitchen.)

I will try to go see this place for my own Self, and talk to her, and take close-up pics of the items that interest us the most.

  6. Ouch ... I deserve it, though ... cause I know it's the truth ... I've backed off my blogging quite a bit ... especially on Nani.

It's been a rough couple of months, but all will be well, Andy :)

  9. I don't know about all those books. Presently I sell books on Bonanza and I am trying to rid myself of all my books. I don't think I would want to do that. You are making a new blog? Be sure to let me know when and where so I can keep following you.
